The International Bar Association Annual Conference is known as one of the largest legal networking events each year, hosting over 5,000 legal professionals from more than 130 jurisdictions with countless events held throughout the week. Taking place from October 29th to November 3rd, 2023, the event hosts attendees from all different legal backgrounds including lawyers in private practice, in-house counsel, human rights advocates, bar leaders, regulations, judges, governmental representatives, business professionals and more. This year our Managing Partner Roberto Pirozzi attended on behalf of the firm, traveling to beautiful Paris, France!
The week consisted of many networking events hosted by several firm’s globally, invoking fruitful conversations that continue to help our firm grow in the global market. The events mainly focus on alternative dispute resolution (ADR), specifically international arbitration and global litigation. The IBA Annual Conference provides a unique and diverse outlook as the event encourages open conversation with input from professionals practicing all around the world, helping to expand our outlook on global legal issues and better understand our international partners.
Two unique events that stood out during the week were Law Rocks! and the GREAT Legal Services UK Legal Specialist Delegation to Paris round table hosted by the UK Ministry of Justice.
Law Rocks! is a rock concert performed solely by musicians who are also legal professionals. This event puts a fun spin on networking, and for a good cause. The mission of Law Rocks! is to promote music education for underprivileged youth and raise money for non-profit organizations through their music at the hands of legal professionals globally. Having raised over $6 million for non-profits so far, Law Rocks continues to be a staple event at the IBA Annual Conference that professionals can look forward to attending.
The GREAT Legal Services UK Legal Specialist Delegation to Paris event hosted by the UK Ministry of Justice personally invited our Managing Partner to be a member of the selected group of arbitrators, arbitration lawyers, and legal industry stakeholders to head the round table discussion on the key practical issues concerning arbitration in the UK and internationally. Roberto was a valuable addition to the discussion, giving a European focused perspective in the second-round table UK Dispute Resolution: A European Lens, in addition to his perspective and experience working on the international arbitration stage. The event hosted around 30 talented guests and provided a thought-provoking conversation surrounding the differences in international arbitration throughout various global jurisdictions.
The IBA Annual Conference continues to provide legal professionals with outstanding opportunities to connect with like-minded individuals in their field, fostering an environment to allow new connections to be made, with a chance to re-connect with friends and colleagues from afar. The various event opportunities, and open discussions surrounding issues and developments in international dispute resolution, allow professionals to share experiences and knowledge, and develop their skills based on the advice of their colleagues. We were delighted to have our firm represented in the event, and for the many connections and contacts gained throughout the week. Next year, we are excited to attend the IBA Annual Conference in Mexico City and look forward to seeing our friends and colleagues alike.
