A week of competition policy in Buenos Aires: PirozziLex at the 2026 OECD Latin American and Caribbean Competition Forum (LACCF) and related events

Buenos Aires hosted an intense week for the international competition community last week, and PirozziLex was there.

Our Senior Counsel, Rafael Rossini Parisi, attended the 2026 OECD Latin American and Caribbean Competition Forum (LACCF), organised by the OECD with Argentina’s national competition authority (Autoridad Nacional de la Competencia), together with the Ibero-American Competition Forum and the academic Foro de Competencia hosted by the Universidad del Salvador (USAL) and the Red Iberoamericana de Competencia (RIC).

The highlight for the firm was Rafael’s presentation at the USAL forum, delivered together with Martín De Dios (USAL), drawing on research he is conducting with the GW Competition Law Center at The George Washington University on competition policy in the age of artificial intelligence. While still ongoing, the research shows that market concentration is already visible across segments of the AI value chain, and that the harder question is how competition authorities respond when existing enforcement tools, new regulation, and the courts all confront the same fast-moving market. The discussion drew on recent cases from Latin America, where enforcers and tribunals are testing notably different answers.

What stayed with us, beyond the individual panels, was the value of putting enforcers, practitioners, economists, and academics from many jurisdictions in the same room. Our thanks go to the OECD, the RIC, USAL, and all those who organised and contributed to such a stimulating week.
