May the 27th and the 28th – 5th Edition of the Italian Negotiation Competition organized by our Firm and hosted by The American University of Rome

On May 27th and 28th, we organized the fifth edition of the Italian Negotiation Competition on the beautiful campus of The American University of Rome with the participation of 7 Italian Universities, 14 teams, 30 students, 12 coaches and 18 judges!

The Italian Negotiation Competition is part of the International Negotiation Competition (INC), i.e. the largest negotiation competition in the world for law degree-seeking students. The students (two per team) compete on a practical case to reach an agreement before a judging panel made of university professors and professionals from all over the world.

The 2 winning teams (from Luiss University and The American University of Rome) will represent Italy in the International Negotiation Competition phase which will be held in Nebraska this year!

The Competition consists of two rounds in two days; at the end of each round, the students receive feedback from the judges and they can learn how to improve their techniques.

During the negotiations, the “competitors” are challenged to face and overcome difficulties arising, in particular, from cultural differences among the various competitors, as well as to deal with multiple negotiating styles.

As every year, the two-days-Competition included a very prestigious Masterclass on ADR focusing on Negotiation, Mediation, and Arbitration: this year, a particular and warm thanks goes to the Italian Ambassador to Turkey, H.E. Giorgio Marrapodi, who enlightened the audience with a magnificent keynote speech. Moreover, lawyers, negotiators, and professors from all over the world shared their knowledge on these topics and gave the students very valuable tips.

The Competition’s main goal is to promote greater interest in negotiation and provide law students with the tools to develop their communication skills and grow as negotiators but also is a wonderful occasion to get together with incredible professionals and talented and brilliant students.
